Barça beat Betis 4–0 at Camp Nou on Wednesday night in their final game of 2015. / MIGUEL RUIZ - FCB
Luis Suárez bags second-half double after Lionel Messi, in his 500th game, scores and Betis help out with an own-goal

When people say that it starts and ends with Lionel Messi, they are usually referring to FC Barcelona's overwhelming success over the past decade being inextricably linked to the performance of their number 10.

Wednesday was living proof. Messi — making his 500th Barça appearance — jolted the crowd out of its collective stupor following a lacklustre opening 20 minutes of play, then gave the stadium the scare of its life moments later, and closed out the electrifying fifteen-minute sequence with one of his signature goals.

Messi's score — which came after an own-goal by Betis — culminated a dramatic 15-minute stretch and Luis Suárez rounded out the scoring with a second half double as FC Barcelona cruised to a 4–0 victory over Real Betis before 83,630 fans who came out on a crisp but comfortable evening at Camp Nou. Suárez's two goals were his 14th and 15th of the year, tops in La Liga.

Barça close 2015 with 180 goals, surpassing the previous team record in a calendar year that had been set by Real Madrid in 2014.

Prior to kick off the players offered up to those in attendance the five cups the team claimed in 2015.

The win keeps the Catalans atop the league table, even with Atlético Madrid on points but ahead on goal differential. It is Barça's seventh straight home win versus Betis, which lost for just the third time this season on the road.

With the crowd buried into the backs of their seats, Messi provoked the first stirring of the evening around the midway through the first half when he lined up for a long free kick before sending it just wide to the right of Real Betis goalkeeper Antonio Adán.

Betis answered moments later at the other end with two shots of their own, but FCB goalkeeper Claudio Bravo snagged Álvaro Cejudo's blast from head on. Betis' Dani Ceballos then stripped Dani Alves on the outlet and closed in on Bravo only to have the shot blocked.

Barça quickly marched back up field, where Neymar headed straight at Adán from the penalty spot.

On the next play, Camp Nou stood still.

With Barça still pushing forward, in the 27th minute, Sergio Busquets floated a lob into the area. With Messi and Adán converging at the same time, Adán dove to fist the ball away and his hip caught the Barça star square on the head, sending Messi straight down. There was a huge gasp, and then silence, as a medical cart was immediately waved onto the field. Amidst the confusion, the referee pulled the yellow card from his pocket, showed it to Adán, and pointed to the spot, much to the chagrin of the Betis players, who felt the contact was incidental.

After a few dramatic moments, Messi, still dazed, made it to his feet and ceded the penalty kick to Neymar.

Neymar tiptoed up to the ball in an effort to catch Adán leaning, but the Betis keeper held his ground and Neymar unleashed a blast that clanged hard off the cross bar. FCB's Ivan Rakitic and Luis Suárez charged in for the rebound and were in position to make a play, but Betis defender Heiko Westermann slipped between the two and, in an attempt to clear, toed the ball in to his own goal to give Barça the 1–0 lead.

In the 34th minute Messi and Neymar combined on a perfectly timed give-and-go that ended with Messi burying a low shot past Adán to make it 2–0.

In that fifteen minute window, Messi had woken up the crowd while barely missing a long free kick, provoked a penalty kick that would lead to Barça's first goal — while scaring the wits out of any and all Barça fans following the game — and completed the circle with a goal of his own, Barça's second.

In the 38th Suárez almost had FCB's third when he slipped past Didier Digard deep in Betis territory and, with only Adán to beat, fired wide into the side netting.

Nevertheless, Suárez did get FC Barcelona's third in the 46th, slotting in from Adán's right after collecting a well-placed pass from Busquets following a Betis turnover in their own end.

FC Barcelona had plenty more chances later in the second half. Messi had a goal-bound free kick tipped away by Adán at the last second, while Alves and Messi both took shots that rattled the woodwork.

Suárez then added Barça's fourth on a give-and-go with Neymar six minutes from time.

NOW THE NEWS IN FULL.....

Dec 30th 2015, 22:37

President Buhari had his first presidential media chat since he asumed power, today! In the chat, he  opened up on the true situation with the Chibok girls, the Shi'ite killings, and Corruption.
On why his promise of releasing the girls has not been kept.

He said, the government tried to negotiate with people claiming to be Boko Haram leaders, but they had no credible information to give the government .
I'm working with our neighbors to #BringBackOurGirls. Although we have no credible info on their locations. We are keeping our options open. We are prepared to negotiate with B'Haram for the girls""
He also assured that, if any leader of Boko Haram can prove where the Chibok girls are,the government would negotiate with them without conditions..He also said the government at the moment has no credible information on the whereabouts and condition of the girls..

On Corruption he said
We can not name those who return stolen funds as we have to take documents to court. There are terrible cases of corruption, we can only appeal to Nigerians to be patient. We have to develop the patience to prosecute corrupt officials through the courts. As a military leader it was possible to round people up & jail them for being corrupt, but not in a democracy.By end of the first quarter of 2016, we will give Nigerians update on how far our anti-corruption war has gone."I swore by the Holy Qran to protect and obey the constitution, no one will be above the law
On Shi'te killings
He said he can not make any statement until the official report of inquiry is released.

"The president of Iran spoke to me about the Shiite crisis; and I told him as a govt, we have a system.I am allowing all the investigative bodies to do their job regarding the Shiite crisis.I have to wait for the official reports before I can make a statement. How can any group create a state in another state ? I saw clips of excited teenagers hitting the chests of generals. No justification for Shi'ite killings but to be fair to both sides, I have to wait for the outcome of the inquiry.I expect an inquiry on Shi'ite killings by Kaduna state government because it happened there

On saying his government has technically won the war against Boko Haram
When I say the war has been technically won, I meant their capacity to carry out conventional attack has weakened.. Hijab will have to be banned if Boko Haram bombings continues"

NOW THE NEWS IN FULL.....

Dec 30th 2015, 22:31

Nigeria's President Buhari  were  interviewed by journalists on  his maiden Presidential Media Chat since assuming office on May 29 this year.

The journalists who interviewed were  Kayode Akintemi (Channels TV), Munir Dan Ali (Daily Trust), Ngozi Anyaegbulam (Media World International),  and Ibanga Isine (Premium Times).

Buhari spoke on so many issues . Read all below :

How are we doing with the fight against corruption?
Buhari:

"Thirty years ago as Head of State, we collected those we perceived to be corrupt and put them in protective custody, until they prove they were not guilty. At present, those suspected of being corrupt are innocent until they are proven guilty.

"We have documents showing Nigerian crude oil was lifted illegally and proceeds are put into personal accounts instead of Government account. We are in court with suspected corrupt persons and we cannot comment until the court are through. We can only appeal to Nigerians to be patient."

"Our constraint is that the accused persons have to defend themselves in court to defend themselves. So, we cannot release their names to the public until the issues are completed in court. Whatever we recover will be presented in court. "The documentation in court include bank statements and documents from Customs Service that are to be presented in court. Until then, we ask Nigerians to have patience."

"We have to be patient and await outcome of courts decision. Government will only react through the Ministry of Justice after the courts have finished with matters before them. "We have documents showing where monies have been lodged."

Is there need to rejig the EFCC, ICPC?
Buhari:

"We have to be very sure of the documents we get and we have to cross check records sometimes across countries and in the EFCC. Those who were engaged in the theft of oil were people of substance and have the wealth to hire the best of lawyers to defend them.

We need to submit fool-proof documents to succeed in prosecution.
How many people have ICPC prosecuted in the past? That is why we are being thorough now. By the end of first quarter of next year, we would be in a position to tell Nigerians how far we have gone. By the end of the first quarter of next year, we will tell Nigerians how far we have gone on the fight against corruption. I swore by the Holy Koran to defend the country's constitution and the law. So, we will not put any body above the law".

Asset declaration not so public after all, not fully made.
Buhari:

"I have declared my assets four times in the past. You have the constitutional right to go to the relevant government agency to go and seek for it. "They were deposited at the Ministry of Justice. If Ministry of Justice cannot produce my asset declaration form, then they too should answer some questions.

"Why me alone, why not others who were governors and Ministers as well. I think I don't have to ask them to give, it is your constitutional role."

Buhari says he swore by the Holy Quran to fight corruption

"‎By the end of the first quarter of next year, we will tell Nigerians how far we have gone on the fight against corruption. I swore by the Holy Koran to defend the country's constitution and the law. So, we will not put any body above the law."
On allegations that some members of his party that have been accused of corruption are being shielded from investigation, he said

"I don't tolerate corruption and I did not pick anyone that will corrupt my government. It is the right of Nigerians to take them to court. I have not taken anybody who is facing corruption charges. I cannot make the mistake of appointing anyone with corruption. Whoever is found to be corrupt would not only be sacked but prosecuted."

On the missing Chibok girls, Buhari said his administration is working towards their rescue

"‎We want to be sure that the girls are complete, safe and sound before we attempt any form of negotiation on the girls. We are still keeping our option. If a credible leadership of Boko Haram is ready for negotiation without any condition we are ready to listen to them. We are working with Niger, Chad and Cameroun on the girls. We have no credible intelligence of where they are. "

On the Shiite/Army clash, he said

"‎The President of Iran spoke to me about the situation. But, I told him that as a government we have a system we must follow. "As the head of the Federal Government, I told him I will have to wait for the official report from the Kaduna State government from their investigations. To be fair to the both sides, we have to wait for the report of the inquiry. I expect the Kaduna State government will bring the report on the inquiry because the crisis happened in its domain. There are all sorts of allegations. So, we just have to wait for the report.  I was in touch with the governor of Kaduna state and the president of Iran talked to me about it. We have a system of investigation as a government and as the head of the federal government, I have to wait for official report before I comment. The Police and the SSS are doing their own role of finding out what happened. In any incident where lives and property were lost there is a standard way of doing things and people would be asked to come and give evidence. How can any group create a state within a state? I saw a clip in which some dissidents were virtually hitting the chest of Generals."

On the possible devaluation of the Naira, Buhari said

"Personally, I don't support the devaluation of the Naira. We handed over a secured country in 1979, but by 1984, nobody knew how much Nigeria was owing. The situation now is aggravated by the downturn in the petroleum industry. It is now per barrel and we have debt service of about N1.5 trillion and we have commitment on the ground. We have to reorganize the NNPC. We have to introduce the TSA. There were 45 accounts in the NNPC alone. Ministry of Defence had about 70 accounts. We have got about N1.5 trillion through the TSA. The oil downturn is very unfortunate for this government. Check previous records. Over 90% were recurrent. No country can develop without capital projects. We were in very very bad shape. I will not support devaluation of the Naira. I need to be convinced that there is need for the country to devalue the Naira. Is it against the dollar or pound? We have our priorities. To provided money to fund the projects we have already outlined, and not for those who want hard currency to import textile and toothpick."

On the continuous detention of Sambo Dasuki and Nnamdi Kanu: Buhari said, "If you see the atrocities those committed against this country, we can't allow them to jump bail."

IMG_0286 OMOTOLA_Muyiwa Goes To Nollywood_Sync PHOTOS
Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and her hubby Matthew Ekeinde celebrated their 20th anniversary this year. In a chat with City People, Captain Ekeinde, talked about being married to the sexy actress, how they met, how they make their busy schedules work and meeting his wife as a virgin.

The father of four who is 10 years older than the Nollywood star had this to say about why he decided to marry Omosexy when she was just 18 years old and meeting her when she was virgin,

I have always believed and still believed it was God's arrangement, I met my wife when she was 16 and married her when she was 18 so I knew her for 2 years but she has always been a lot older than her age in terms of her maturity, her physical structure, and the way she thinks. She is way ahead of her peers in her IQ. Of course I am older than her for 10 years and that was never a barrier, it was just something that just happened, I saw her and I fell in love with her and of course because I had always wanted to marry a virgin and she had turned 18 then and she seemed to fit into every item on the list I had written I wanted in a woman, for me the age difference was not an issue, the age of consent in Nigeria is 18,infact that was why I waited for her actually so it just happened, I can't tell you why, nothing really specific but it's heaven's arrangement.
Read more after the jump

On the challenges of being married to a Nollywood star,
Well, it has been great, the past 20 years that we have been married now. It has its own good and bad sides, the good side is that you get favours and the bad side of it is that you don't have privacy. Apart from that, it has been fun.
Making their marriage work with their busy schedules,
We have a work plan or ethic that anytime she is on location or she is out of the house for few days or few weeks, I try to schedule my flights to ensure that I am around, so if I go on flight, I make sure I return home that very day or the following day, so we have been able to juggle it. Sometimes it does not work out because I am out and she is out as well and our kids are always alone, but most of the time, it has really worked out. That is how we have been able to juggle it over the years and it has been working.
On Omotola, the wife and mother,
One thing is that she is a terrific cook, yes she is a yoruba and I am Igbo, I have always believed that Yoruba's don't have different types of delicacies like the igbos that has all kind of soups. When we got married, she had a lot of igbo friends who taught her how to cook all the Igbo soups and so she is an expert, she cooks very well. I don't smoke and I don't drink but I eat a lot and my kids love food as well. At home, she is just like anyone else, she is very simple, does her own house chores, makes sure the kids tidy up their rooms, help in the kitchen, tidy up the living room , yes we have house helps and people that help us but not all the time that we use them. So she is normal at home.
What has kept their marriage,
I believe it is God. My wife and I understand each other very well. We are well grounded in the bible, we both understand the words of God, we have an agreement and an understanding that no matter what the issues are, we sit down and we talk about it. For us Divorce is not an option, it does not even come in to play so we try to work things out no matter what it is and by Gods grace, our marriage has lasted this long.
His thoughts on showbiz marriages,
That notion was way back in the 80s and early 90s, not anymore, I remember when I was growing up in school playing football, people felt that footballers are wayward, they don't have a future because they cannot make their academic marks, and that's why you are playing football but these days even people in the university want to play football because there is so much money in it and it is now seem to be a glorified job so to speak so it is same thing with acting and singing, I don't think there is any parent out there who thinks this profession are wayward. It is just for the individual to put their head straight and know their plans and also what they are doing.
He also speaks on his career as a pilot, his kids and what inspires him, read it over at City People.

No Reliable Intelligence On Chibok Girls’ Location, Condition – Buhari

Read..This is the news for you ....peeps ...always come back for more......

NOW THE NEWS IN FULL.....

Dec 30th 2015, 22:08

Chibok GirlsPresident Muhammadu Buhari says that there is no reliable intelligence on the whereabouts and condition of the missing Chibok girls.

The President made the statement on Wednesday during his first Media Chat since he assumed office at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

“There has been no firm intelligence where those girls are physical are and what condition they are in.

“What we believe from our intelligence, they kept on shifting them around so that they are not taken by surprise and get them (the Chibok girls) freed," the President said when asked if the military and other security agencies have any information that confirmed if the girls were alive and in good condition.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces also disclosed that he was working with neighbouring countries including Niger Republic and Chad amongst others to ensure the release of the abducted girls.

He restated the Federal Government’s preparedness to negotiate the release of the girls, lamenting that they were yet to get a reliable leadership of the dreaded militant group.Chibok

“We are looking for a credible Boko Haram leadership that will convince us that the girls are alive. If any Boko Haram just comes out and say he is a leader and that he knows where the Chibok girls are, we cannot automatically believe him.

“We are still keeping our option open that if a credible leadership of Boko Haram can be established and they tell us where those girls are, we are prepared to negotiate with them without any condition.”

President Buhari said that the Federal Government can only negotiate with the sect when the credibility of the leadership of the terrorist group is been founded.

“Some (perceived) leaders of Boko Haram wanted to make contact but we insisted on establishing the bonafide of the ‘so called Boko Haram leadership’ before we can agree to negotiate with them on what terms will they release the girls to us so that we can take them to their parents and back to their school.

“We want to be sure that they are complete (209 I think) and that they are safe and sound, but what we have so far by attacking some of the locations, no Chibok girl has been recovered. They must have dispersed them all over the place,” the President said.

The post No Reliable Intelligence On Chibok Girls’ Location, Condition – Buhari appeared first on Channels Television.

Davido's babymama Sophia Momodu's lawyers today wrote a petition addressed to the Director General, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, accusing Davido and his family members of "attempted child trafficking and abduction of (Davido's daughter) Miss Aurora Imade Adeleke". Read the petition after the cut...

December 30, 2015
The Director General, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons No. 2028 Delaba Street Wuse Zone 5 FCT, Abuja

Dear Madam,
PETITION AGAINST MISS ASHLEY COCO ADELEKE & MR ADEDEJI ADELEKE FOR ATTEMPTED CHILD TRAFFICKING AND ABDUCTION OF MISS AURORA IMADE ADELEKE

We act as Solicitors for Miss. Sophia Ajibola Momodu, (hereinafter referred to as our client) whose instructions we have to forward this petition to your esteemed Agency. Our client, a 27 year old, is the biological mother of a baby girl with name, Aurora Imade Adeleke, who was born on the 14th day of May 2015. The baby's father is Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke (aka Davido).

The father and mother are unmarried. On the 11th July, 2015, our client was tricked to visit the house of Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke's half sister – Miss Ashley Coco Adeleke's with her baby, Imade Aurora Adeleke. After getting to the house on Baderinwa Alabi Street, Lekki Phase I, Lagos, our client's baby was forcefully taken from her and she was thrown out of the premises with the threat that she would be decisively dealt with if she ever bothered to return there.

There were armed policemen in the premises and our client's survival instinct prevailed on her to make her leave her breast suckling baby behind, with so much pain in her heart. By daybreak on the next day, our client was again at Ashley Coco Adeleke's house to take her baby, but she was prevented by armed policemen from gaining access into the house. She was again threatened and warned never to return for the child.

Since July 2015, our client, who has now become so disorientated, saddened and confused has been going to family members, including her cousin, Mr Dele Momodu, and other well meaning Nigerians to intervene and allow her get her baby back or at least allow her to be able to have access to and care for her daughter. This was frustrated by Coco Adeleke, David Adeleke and their father, Mr. Adedeji Adeleke.

These people boasted to our client and all her family and friends that our client is a nonentity and of little substance in Nigeria. They also claim that they have the financial wherewithal and political and security clout to deal with her and her family anyhow and without any consequence with the aid of their brother and uncle, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, and other friends Mr Deji Adeleke purportedly has in government.

In a bid to justify their actions, Mr Deji Adeleke and his daughter, Ashley Coco Adeleke, have been spreading several malicious and unfounded allegations about our client. While the attempts at finding a peaceful and lasting solution were still ongoing, on Tuesday the 29th December 2015, Ashley Coco Adeleke and her father, Mr Deji Adeleke, tried to travel to Dubai with our client's baby.

The baby was meant to be flown out of the country with Nigerian and American passports. Prior to that date, our client and her cousin, Mr Dele Momodu, had gone to alert the immigration services at the Murtala Mohammed, Ikeja International airport of the likelihood of Ashley Coco Adeleke travelling with our client's baby by pretending to be the Mother. Our client believes that her baby's American passport was hidden and is now likely to be in possession of Mr Deji Adeleke or Ashley Coco Adeleke. It appears that the assistance of Emirates Airline was sought as the baby's American passport was not produced in breach of aviation regulations.

Neither was a letter of authority from the mother to confirm her consent to the trip produced despite the airline being alerted. When Mrs. Modupe Mofikoya, the immigration officer who attended to the Adeleke travelling party accosted Ashley Coco Adeleke and asked for the mother of the baby, Ashley Adeleke claimed that she was the mother. Immediately, the immigration officer on duty collected her Nigerian international passport, she quickly absconded from the scene with the baby and her father, Mr Deji Adeleke, showed up shortly afterwards to try to clear his daughter's mess.

Our client with the help of her family members, including Mr Dele Momodu, determinedly resisted the attempt by Miss Ashley Coco Adeleke and her father, Mr Deji Adeleke, from taking Aurora Imade Adeleke from Lagos yesterday. Our client believes that the pair are trying to take the child to America and thus put her out of the reach of the biological mother. At the moment, Miss Ashley Coco Adeleke and our client's daughter, Aurora Imade Adeleke are still in Lagos and two of their respective international passports are in the custody of the airport immigration services.

Our client's fear now, is that Ashley Coco may use her Nigerian passport and Aurora Imade's American passport to travel through other Nigerian or West African airports. We know that the actions of Mr Deji Adeleke and Miss Ashley Coco Adeleke contravene many provisions of the law.

One is Section 13 of the Childs Right Law 2007 of Lagos State (as adapted from the Federal Act), which guarantees Aurora Imade Adeleke's right to parental care and protection. That law also forbids separation of a child from her parents.

Another is Section 24 of the same law, which also prohibits abduction of a child from the lawful custody of her parents. Neither Mr Deji Adeleke or Ms Ashley Coco Adeleke has any lawful right to the custody of Aurora Imade Adeleke. Even the unmarried father, Mr David Adedeji Adeleke, only has limited rights to the child and certainly not to the exclusion of our client, the natural mother as the Adelekes are trying to do.

We are of the sound view that your Agency is the most viable organisation that can intervene in the plight of our client and save her from the untold trauma that she is going through in the hands of Mr Deji Adeleke and Ashley Coco Adeleke, who has her own child that she keeps with her.

We have advised our client about the statutory powers of your Agency to potently investigate and enforce all the provisions of the law that deal with abduction and trafficking in persons. We urge you to use your good offices to intervene in the case of our client and protect a baby who should still be under her mother's care from being abducted and smuggled abroad. We thank you.

Yours faithfully,
O. AJAYI & CO./Gbolaga Ajayi Esq.

Babatunde-Idris
This Nigerian man pictured above is based in Oyo, and his name is Babatunde Idris. He was recently arrested after years spent posing as a colonel and defrauding people of various sums of money, including a businessman, whom he defrauded of N40 million.

State Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, confirmed the news, stating:
"Following a petition received alleging the fraudulent activities of Idris, the command's Anti-kidnapping Squad swung into action and arrested the suspect, who until his arrest had fraudulently obtained various sums of money from his victims.
The suspect forged various letterheads of the nigerian army which he issued to unsuspecting individuals and corporate organisations soliciting assistance. He also had multiple identities under fake names all bearing the status of a colonel.
The suspect promised his last victim, Mustapha, that he would help him to get a certificate for oil importation since 2012, but failed to complete the deal after the money (N40 million) was paid into his account."
Idris has however denied collecting N40million from Mustapha, thenews.ng reports.
"I collected N16m from him claiming to be a colonel in the army. I signed the form, but truly I am not a military man. One of my brothers is a general in the army. One day, he gave me a letter to help somebody, so I made a copy of it.
Mustapha wanted me to help him to collect certificate of oil lifting and because I knew people who could do it, I took the money from him, but the deal failed."

Dave Majumdar, National Interest: Could Iran Sink a U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier?

The United States is accusing Iran of testing rockets near one of its aircraft carriers in the Persian Gulf as it passed through the Straits of Hormuz. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) denounced the Iranian actions as "highly provocative." But could Iran actually sink one of the U.S. Navy's mighty flattops?

According to CENTCOM, Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) naval vessels conducted live-fire drills less than 1,500 yards away from the Nimitz-class carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75), the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Bulkeley (DDG-84) destroyer and the French frigate FS Provence on Saturday. Moreover, civilian shipping traffic was in the area.

WNU Editor: If they throw everything .... including the kitchen sink .... there is probably a very good chance that Iran will be able to sink a U.S. aircraft carrier. They will need to do it at the right place, at the right time, and with a lot of luck. But the consequences of such an action would be immense.

Suspected Looters Will End Up In Courts – Buhari

Read..This is the news for you ....peeps ...always come back for more......

NOW THE NEWS IN FULL.....

Dec 30th 2015, 21:58

Pmedia chatresident Buhari has said that his government will not spare treasury looters as he would ensure they end up in the courts.

He said this on Wednesday night during his maiden edition of the Presidential Media Chat.

The media chat, which was live on Channels Televison and other broadcast stations, saw the President fielding questions on a range of burning national issues from a panel of journalists.

He expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far in the efforts to recover stolen funds.

“I think we are doing quite well considering the circumstances”, he said.

“We have been lucky to find some documents where public funds were diverted into personal pockets, where Nigerian crude oil was lifted illegally and the proceeds were put into some personal accounts instead of the federal government account and of course we have started going to court.”

He expressed his expectation that the judiciary would see to the proper handling of the cases, noting that the government “cannot prejudge what the courts will do” as “we cannot determine issues while they are still in court”.

The President admitted that Nigerians are entitled to know the truth about the anti-corruption campaign but this is dependent on the courts. He,  however, assured Nigerians that monies have already been recovered and the details of the recovered funds and their sources would be made known.

He promised that by the end of first quarter of 2016, his administration “will be kept busy informing Nigerians what progress has been made” in the fight against corruption.

Allegations of Bias

There had been some condemnation of the anti-corruption campaign with some Nigerians alleging that the President is biased but the President insisted that prosecution can only be based on evidences as he believes in facts.

In response to insinuation that members of his cabinet might also be corrupt, he said, “I have been a democrat since April 2002. I don’t think I tolerate corruption, I don't think I picked anybody (as Minister) that I know will embarrass my government.

“If you have got any evidence about any of my Ministers I accept responsibility for the 36 ministers I have – although I have 24 ministries.

“I think if you have got the facts, you have got the right as a Nigerian citizen to take them to court.”

President Buhari challenged the Nigerian media to engage in more investigative journalism as this would help the efforts to change Nigeria for better.

He also discussed issues of security, the fight against corruption and the state of the economy.

The Presidential Media Chat has been a major platform through which every past Nigerian president, beginning with the return of democracy in 1999, has kept Nigerians abreast of government’s activities.
