Business women and men at a major timber market in Lafia, Nasarawa State are counting their loss after fire brought down part of the market at around 1:00am yesterday. According to eyewitnesses, they can't really tell what brought about the fire but they suddenly saw smoke and alerted the state fire service corporation. They also claim the fire fighters came to the scene with empty tanks and so they did little or nothing to help the situation.

Market men and women have been counting their losses, and they say they lost millions to the fire.

The State Chief Fire Officer, Mr Dogara Dalhatu has however replied those saying fire fighters came to the scene with empty tanks saying it is nothing but a lie. He however said the cause of the fire is yet to be established and commiserated with the victims.
